A modern short‑scale bass with a rich, full low‑end. The Magneto® Ruby Bass features custom MAP‑1 and MAJ‑1 pickups, a stable layered‑maple neck, and elegant Ruby inlays for a distinctive blend of style, comfort and powerful tone.
The short‑scale bass truly came into its own in the early 1960s. In recent years, bass players have shown renewed interest in this style of instrument. This is not simply due to the more compact body and neck; a 30" scale bass also has a very distinctive tonal character. There is clear evidence that a shorter scale does not mean fewer bass frequencies – in fact, quite the opposite is true.
Magneto® Guitars developed the new Ruby Bass with the aim of offering musicians a fresh blend of aesthetics and tone. The choice of pickups and their positioning play a key role in delivering the rich, full low‑end tones this instrument is capable of.
The body is crafted from basswood, while the neck features a layered maple construction to ensure long‑term stability.
The rosewood fingerboard is finished with newly designed Magneto Ruby inlays. A bone nut provides excellent tonal transfer, complemented at the other end by a classic vintage‑style bridge. Controls include a volume knob, a master tone and a balance pot, allowing you to find the ideal tonal sweet spot for your amplifier setup. The new Magneto® MAP‑1 and MAJ‑1 pickups have been developed specifically to capture this unique and complex tonal architecture.
